Having recently found myself in Wellington I took some time to visit the Weta Workshop’s Weta Cave. That’s where I met this monster of a creature!
A massive fan of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books I was in awe wandering through the shop and mini-museum checking out costumes and props from the films. My partner loved the steam punk gear that was on display and I had orders from the family for maps from the shop. There is even a copy of Bilbo Baggins’ signed contract from in the Hobbit!
Not a fan of Tolkien? District 9, The Adventures of Tintin (2011), and King Kong (2005) are all part of the Weta Workshop scene.
The Weta Cave is officially on my must do list for Wellington. It’s well worth the drive: its about 20 min drive from the town centre. Located at the corner of Camperdown Road and Weka Street, Miramar.
